I thought those new torque wrenches with the digital readout were just a gimmick

My shop in Phoenix got a couple of the Snap-on TechAngle wrenches last month, and I rolled my eyes at the price tag. Then I had to do a critical engine mount job on a King Air, and the thing beeped and lit up green when I hit the exact spec. No more squinting at a dial or wondering about the click. It just made the job feel solid. Anyone else switch to digital torque tools and actually stick with them?

Wait, the angle can drift if your hand isn't straight? That sounds like a huge problem for something that costs that much. Doesn't that defeat the whole point of getting a precise digital tool? You're basically back to guessing if the sensor is that picky.

You mentioned the beep and green light, but does the angle measurement actually work right? I tried one on some head bolts where you have to turn it another 90 degrees after torque. The old way with a paint mark felt more sure. The digital angle can drift if your hand isn't perfectly straight.
