Vent: A FedEx guy at the Memphis hub told me to stop guessing and start logging, and I have not touched a torque wrench the same way since
About two years ago I was at a road show near the Memphis hub and a guy who had been on the line for 25 years watched me pull a panel and just start yanking bolts. He stopped me cold and said, "You just did six fasteners without one of them getting written down." I had always treated my log as paperwork for the office, but he showed me his own notebook where every torque value and re-check was dated, and it caught a loose clamp on a fuel line two weeks later. Now I am split on this. Some of the older guys say the log is a crutch and your hands should know the spec cold, and the younger guys I work with say if it is not written down it did not happen. Where do you all land on that?
