I thought that free home energy audit from the city was a scam, then the guy found $340 a year leaking out my attic
Someone at a neighborhood meeting last spring kept going on about the free energy audit through the city, and I figured it was just a sales pitch dressed up as a public service. Finally booked it 4 months ago because my summer bill hit $290 and the guy showed up with a blower door and a thermal camera. He found my attic hatch was basically a hole, plus two recessed lights with no insulation around them, and gave me a printed list of fixes. I did the hatch seal myself for about $40 in weatherstripping and my last bill was $218. Has anyone done the rebate part of this, and did it actually cover the work or is that the catch?
