My irrigation guy's one comment changed how I plan my yard expenses
Was out back last Tuesday with Marco from that little sprinkler repair shop off San Mateo, fixing a valve that rusted shut. He said most ABQ homeowners blow their whole landscaping budget on pretty plants, then get stuck paying triple for water line fixes when the roots find the clay. That hit different because I just dropped $1,400 on new drip lines and shrubs, but never thought about the soil shifting under my foundation. Now I'm mapping out where the existing lines run before I plant anything else, and checking the pressure gauge monthly. Has anyone else had luck with those root barriers from the Co-op, or are they just snake oil?

Marco's out here saving folks from their own dirt, sounds like he's seen one too many sprinkler lines snapped by a thirsty elm. I figure root barriers are like sunblock for your pipes, might not be magic but beats explaining to your wallet why the yard looks like a mini Grand Canyon. Honestly, checking the pressure gauge monthly is probably the real MVP here, that little $15 tool has saved me more than any fancy drip line ever did.
