Roof replacement quote gap made me pick the mid tier contractor

Two quotes for my 2,100 square foot place in the Northeast Heights came back at $14k and $22k, so I went with the cheaper guy and he left shingle debris all over my yard for 3 days. The expensive crew was a big name but the cheap one had better Yelp photos, which was dumb of me to trust. Has anyone else gambled on a lower bid and ended up paying more in cleanup or repairs later?
