Dub purists ruined the group watch I hosted in Seattle
Last weekend I set up a projector at my place for 12 people to watch the new season of Frieren, but two dudes in the back kept heckling every English line and arguing that subs are the ONLY real way to experience anime. They spent 45 minutes quoting a YouTube essay about lip flap timing and turned half the room against the dub I picked. Why do some fans act like watching a show in two languages is some kind of moral failure instead of just a preference?
