Why does nobody talk about sub vs dub pacing for comedy anime?

I watched the same gag-heavy show in dub first and the jokes landed flat, then switched to sub and was laughing out loud by episode 3. The timing in the sub just hits different, especially the rapid-fire wordplay in Konosuba. Anyone else find one version funnier than the other, or am I just weird?

Wait, you watched the dub first and actually made it through that? I gave up on the Konosuba dub after like two episodes, the voice actors sound like they're reading from a script while the sub cast is basically doing improv at 100mph.
