Guy at the supply house in Dallas said he swaps washer hoses on every call, sight unseen
I was picking up a drain pump in Dallas Tuesday and this older tech behind me said he does not even look at the hoses anymore, he just replaces both supply lines on every washer call no matter what. Said it costs him about $12 in parts and 10 minutes, and it kills his callback rate. I did not say anything but it rattled around in my head the whole drive home. Two of my last three no-heat calls came back because I only fixed what the customer called about. That is $95 in gas and two trashed afternoons, so maybe this guy is onto something. Now I keep a pair of steel braided hoses on the truck at all times. Do you guys throw parts at stuff that is not broken, or fix only what they called you for?
