Had a weirdly great week with those old Whirlpool direct drive washers
I had three of them come into the shop from different homes, all with the same worn out coupler. Usually I dread them because they can be a pain, but I got into a rhythm. I finished all three repairs in under two hours total, which never happens. The best part was finding a local supplier who had the exact part for $12 each, saving me a ton of time waiting for shipping. It felt good to fix those workhorses so fast. Anyone else find a good source for those classic washer parts lately?

Those old couplers are a known weak spot. Good call finding a local supplier, that's the real time saver. Keep that supplier's number handy for next time.

Known weak spot" feels like an overstatement. I've seen plenty of those old couplers outlast the newer ones if they're installed right. Local suppliers are fine, but waiting on their stock can take longer than a quick online order with next day shipping. I've actually had better luck just keeping a couple spares on the shelf myself.
