Vent: A customer called my diagnostic process 'slow and old school'
They said I spent too much time with a multimeter and should just use a $150 thermal camera first. I tried it on a tricky fridge compressor and it cut my time in half. Anyone else get pushed to change their method and have it actually work out?

Wow wait, a $150 thermal camera? That's wild. I mean, idk, I always figured those things were way more expensive and just for like electrical panel stuff. @the_drew kind of makes a good point though, maybe it's just me being stubborn but I gotta try one now.

Yeah, had a guy tell me to just scan for codes instead of listening for that weird idle... turns out he was right, saved me a whole afternoon.

Totally get that! I spent a whole weekend once trying to find a rattle by ear in my old truck. Borrowed a scanner on a whim and it pointed right to a loose heat shield. Felt a little silly but man, what a time saver. Modern tools are just a cheat code sometimes.
