My astronomy club buddy in Tucson said to stop chasing clear skies and shoot during the moon, and my best photo yet came out of it
I was complaining to Dave after our monthly meetup at the Flandrau planetarium about losing 3 straight new moon weekends to clouds, and he said he shoots bright targets like the Orion Nebula even when the moon is half full. I tried it two weeks ago from my driveway with a $60 light pollution filter and got my sharpest 90 second subs ever. Turns out waiting for perfect dark skies was costing me half the year, not making my pics better. Anyone else shoot through moon glow on purpose, or am I late to this?
