My tripod head was loose for 3 months and I never knew

Kept blaming soft focus on my lens. Bought a new one, $400. Still blurry. Friend at the Death Valley star party grabbed my rig and laughed. Said the ball head was slipping a quarter inch every shot. Tightened it in 10 seconds. Should've checked the basics first. Anyone else wasted money on gear when the real fix was free?

$400 for a new lens and it was a loose ball head the whole time... that hurts just reading it. I probably would've blamed the camera body next.
