Observatory gift shop pics are ruining the real thing
Drove 3 hours to McDonald Observatory last weekend and half the crowd just snapped photos of the posters in the gift shop instead of looking through the telescopes. I counted 12 people doing this in 15 minutes. Are we collecting images or actually seeing the sky?

Look, if they dropped real money on those posters and want pics of them instead of fighting the cold to squint through a lens, that's their call. The view through the telescope is basically the same as the HD shots on their phone anyway.
