Went with the $180 timing belt kit over the $60 one from the parts store, and my wallet's still mad but my engine isn't
Had to pick between a cheap timing belt kit from the local shop on Broadway and a pricier kit with a water pump and tensioner included. Went cheap first on my old Civic and the tensioner started whining around 8,000 miles, so I re-did the whole job with the good kit and it's been quiet for 25k now. Lesson learned the hard way, pulling that cover off twice in a Minnesota winter garage was not fun. Anyone else gotten burned going cheap on critical engine parts, or did I just get a bad batch?
