Rant: A 2018 Ford Escape with a phantom misfire that took three days to find
It was a P0300 random misfire code with no obvious cause, and I swapped coils and plugs twice before finding a tiny crack in the intake manifold gasket. Has anyone else had a simple code turn into a multi-day hunt?

Tell me about it, I chased a rough idle for days once. Ended up being a vacuum leak from a brittle hose you couldn't even see without pulling the intake. Sometimes the fix is stupid simple but hidden in the worst spot.

Oh man, what if the problem wasn't even in the wiring you were checking? I mean, sometimes those things are just a bad ground somewhere totally random, idk.
