Paid a broker $250 to move my car from Denver to Austin, car sat 11 days and I still paid $80 for a rental
I needed my Civic moved from Denver to Austin last month and a broker promised pickup in 2 to 4 days for $250 upfront. It sat in a lot for 11 days while they waited for a carrier, and I was stuck paying $80 a day for a rental that whole time. The car finally showed up with a cracked mirror and nobody would answer my calls about it. If I had just called a hauling company directly I could have paid maybe $150 more but gotten it moved in 3 days. Lesson is the cheap quote is not the real price, the waiting is. Anyone else get burned by a broker holding your car hostage while they shop for a driver?
Huh, 11 days is rough but honestly that's kind of how brokers work, they don't have their own trucks so they gotta find someone. The cracked mirror sucks though, that part's on them. Not sure I'd call it hostage situation, more like you paid for the cheap route and got the cheap service lol.
