Just hit 5 years without a single write-up for a wiring error

It's a weird thing to track, but it really made me think. On one side, it shows good habits and careful work. On the other, it makes me wonder if I'm just lucky or if the pressure to never slip up is too high. How do you guys balance speed with perfect quality on complex harnesses?

Five years is a serious run. Do you have a specific checklist you run through before you sign off on a harness, or is it more of a muscle memory thing now? I'm curious if the process that keeps you error-free also slows you down when a rush job comes in.

Notice how we track these weird personal metrics everywhere. You see it with people counting days since a fast food trip or a cigarette. It shows we're all just trying to prove we have control over something, even if it's small. That five year streak is your proof you can handle the messy details when everything else feels chaotic.

Honestly, I get what you're saying about control, but I don't track this to prove anything to myself. It's just a work note that stuck. The balance is the real thing. For me, a solid routine is what lets you be both fast and right, because you stop having to think about every little step. That muscle memory is what keeps the errors away, even on a crazy day. It's not about luck, it's about building a system you trust.
