Pro tip: stop chasing intermittent faults with the plane powered up, do the wiggle test cold first
Had a nav light flicker on a King Air 200 that came back three times in two months. Everyone kept powering the bus and wiggling the connector, saw nothing, signed it off. Fourth trip I pulled the battery, got on my back under the panel with a flashlight, and found a chafed wire resting against a rib about 4 inches from the plug. Powered up, the wire moved just enough to stay clear. Cold and dark, it sat right on the metal. Cost the shop maybe 6 hours of pull and reinstall time over those trips for a 15 minute fix. Now I do the cold wiggle first before I ever touch a meter. Anybody else got a fault that only shows up with the power off?
