Baked 340 loaves Friday for a wedding, then forgot the salt in Saturday's batch
Friday was the best day I've had at the shop in a while, every loaf came out clean and the bride's mom hugged me. Saturday I spaced on the salt in 60 sourdoughs because I was still riding that high, and now I want to know if anyone else has a dumb mistake story from the day after a win.
Why do you call it a dumb mistake when it was really just your brain being fried from a huge win? You ran 340 loaves through the oven in one day, that's not nothing, and your body was probably running on fumes by Saturday morning. I've done the same thing after big catering orders, forgot the salt in a whole tray of rolls because my head was still back in Friday's chaos. That's not a dumb mistake, that's just what happens when you push hard and don't give yourself a minute to come down. The salt thing is fixable anyway, day old bread makes fine croutons or panzanella.
