Warning: Our block party bake-off ended with a surprise guest
In my experience, local baking events can get pretty wild. I made a giant cinnamon roll cake for our neighborhood get-together. Your mileage may vary, but I was sure it would win. During the judging, a neighbor's dog, who has a sweet tooth, leaped onto the table and snatched a chunk from the top pie. The judges had to rate the leftovers, which was a mess. We all cracked up, and now it's a goofy tale we share. Baking for the community sure keeps things interesting.

Come on, it's a neighborhood bake-off, not some high-stakes cooking show. Sure the dog messing things up is funny, but getting all bent out of shape over a pie seems a bit much. These things are just for fun anyway, right?

Reminds me of the time my neighbor's cat jumped onto the picnic table during a potluck. It didn't just walk by, it took a single, deliberate bite out of every deviled egg on the platter. The look on Mrs. Henderson's face was like she'd witnessed a crime.
