Old school bank teller vs my banking app, who's really faster?

My aunt retired from a credit union in Cleveland after 30 years. Last Sunday she watched me deposit a check on my phone and said 'you think that's convenient until the app freezes on a Friday at 5:59 pm.' She had a point. I've had two mobile deposits fail this year, one for $340 that took 5 days to sort out. But calling a branch or driving 20 minutes to a teller feels like a whole afternoon wasted. Is the convenience worth the risk of zero human backup, or are we all just beta testing for the banks? Anyone else had a payment app hiccup that made them rethink the cashless thing?
