Thought mobile check deposit was a gimmick until I tried it with a $1,200 rent check from my landlord
Back around 2015 I was dead sure mobile check deposit was a joke that would get my account locked. I worked at a hardware store in Denver and my landlord only took paper checks, so every Friday I had to run to the bank before 6pm or wait until Monday. I finally tried the app in 2017 after a snowstorm shut down the branch on Broadway. Snapped a photo of the check on my kitchen table, got a confirmation in about 30 seconds, and the money showed up the next morning. Now I deposit everything that way, even a $22 rebate check from my insurance company. The only thing that still bugs me is when the app rejects a check because the lighting is bad or there is a crease. What finally got you to trust mobile deposit, or are you still walking into a branch?
Did you start with small checks first just to test the waters? I did the same thing, but once I saw a $40 check clear I started trusting it with bigger amounts. Now I barely step foot in a branch unless I need something weird like a cashier's check.
