A librarian in Austin made me question my whole stance on challenged books
Met a middle school librarian at a coffee shop last Tuesday who told me she actually supports keeping some challenged books out of younger grade shelves, not as a ban but as a timing thing. I always assumed any removal talk was pure censorship, but hearing her talk about a graphic novel with suicide themes that a 5th grader grabbed by mistake made me realize context matters more than I thought. Has anyone else changed their mind about age based access after talking to someone on the front lines?
