Just realized my kid's school quietly pulled 'The Bluest Eye' from the 11th grade list
I found out from another parent that the book was removed last semester, with the district citing 'mature themes' as the reason. Reading it myself, I saw it was about trauma and beauty standards, which felt important for teens to discuss. How do you even find out about these quiet removals before they happen?

Yeah, good luck with that. My only intel comes from my kid leaving their reading list on the kitchen floor, covered in ketchup. By the time I decode the stains, the book's probably already gone.

Oh man, @robin489, that ketchup struggle is so real! My nephew once used his math homework as a plate for a jelly sandwich. I had to hold it up to a lamp to see the equations through the grape smears. We never did figure out problem four.

How do you even keep up? A friend of mine only found out because her daughter had to do a last minute book report swap and was panicking. She asked the teacher directly and got a form email back about "community standards." It's like they hope you don't notice until it's too late to say anything.
