My ebook got blocked in 3 countries last Tuesday and a reader in Manila mailed me a paper copy of it
I put my self-published history book up for sale in January and woke up last Tuesday to find it pulled in Malaysia, Kenya, and Vietnam with no reason given. Then a reader in Manila emailed asking for my address because she wanted to mail me her own printed copy, which was the first time I held the thing in my hands. Has anyone here had luck getting a takedown reversed by just emailing the platform's appeals address, or is that a waste of time?
The appeal email thing is hit or miss depending on the platform. KDP usually just sends back a form letter if it's a content policy block, but Draft2Digital actually has a real person reading those emails and I got a travel guide restored in India and Turkey after about 9 days by replying to the original notice instead of the generic appeals address. The part nobody tells you is that the ban list often comes from a third party distributor, so if you went wide through Smashwords or Ingram, that's the email you actually want to hit up. Either way, keep all the paperwork from Manila reader, dates, screenshots of the block messages, because they sometimes ask for proof the book is real and not scraped AI junk.
