My library's book display got flagged for a title I didn't even think twice about
I volunteer at a small library in Dayton and we put up a banned books display for Banned Books Week. One of the titles was "And Tango Makes Three," the picture book about two male penguins raising a chick. A parent complained and the director pulled the whole display, not just that one book. I was surprised because it's been challenged for years, but I never expected it to get flagged in our tiny town. It made me realize how quickly a single complaint can shut down a whole conversation. Has anyone else had a display or book talk derailed by one person's objection?

Did you try putting the display back up with a sign explaining why each book was challenged, because that turned a complaint into a talking point for us? We made it a whole community thing with a voting box, and honestly the pushback died down once people saw the reasoning right there on the shelf.
