A mod on a chili forum banned me for saying beans belong in chili
Three years ago I joined a Texas chili forum because I wanted to learn to make good chili at home, and everyone there was super serious about the "no beans" rule. I made one post saying I like a can of kidney beans in mine, mostly for texture and to stretch it for my family of five, and within 20 minutes I got like 14 angry replies. One guy in Fort Worth called me a "Yankee soup maker" and said I should be ashamed. Then the head mod sends me a message saying I was banned for 30 days for "trolling," which made zero sense since I was being honest. I tried to explain that my grandma from Ohio always put beans in hers and it was just a preference thing, but they muted me before I could even reply. I came back after the ban just to read recipes, said nothing for six months, and then got banned forever because I liked a comment where someone said beans were okay. Has anyone else gotten banned from a hobby forum for a food opinion that regular people would not even care about?
So you got banned forever for liking a comment? Lmao that mod must have been sitting there refreshing the page waiting for you to slip up. The fact that a grown man in Fort Worth called you a "Yankee soup maker" over beans is honestly the funniest part, like bro it's dinner not the Alamo. I bet half those guys typing angry replies had a can of beans hiding in the back of their pantry the whole time. You lasted six whole months reading recipes without saying anything and still got got, that's some next level grudge holding right there.
