Mod in a Facebook group removed my meme about a lawnmower and gave me a real reason
Last month I posted a meme in a big gardening group that showed a lawnmower with a cracked engine block and the caption "works great, just needs a tune up." A mod pulled it in under 20 minutes and sent me a note saying the joke was fine but the image was a stolen photo from a for-sale listing, which is why it kept getting flagged. I started making my own dumb drawings in MS Paint instead of grabbing pics off the web. Two of those got shared over 400 times and none got taken down. Has anyone else had a mod explain the actual reason instead of just hitting delete?
So basically the mod did their job and now we're supposed to act like that's some rare act of kindness? The rule about not posting other people's photos is pretty standard in most groups, that listing pic probably belonged to somebody trying to sell a mower. Getting a real explanation instead of a silent delete is nice, sure, but it should be the normal thing, not a feel good story. And the whole "I switched to MS Paint drawings and they went viral" part sounds less like a lesson learned and more like luck.
