Visited a small college in Ohio where they locked up the student newspaper archive
I was poking around the library at Oberlin last week and the archivist told me the administration sealed off 3 years of student papers from the 1990s because they covered a protest that got too messy. Has anyone else run into a school actually hiding old media like that?

That line about "sealed off 3 years of student papers" really gets me... because it's the same thing I see happening in my town with old church newsletters and city council bulletins, just tucked away in boxes nobody can touch. Feels like schools and local groups are scared of their own history and would rather hide the rough parts than let people learn from them. Makes you wonder what other stories are sitting locked up in basements across the country.

Those boxes keep private student info safe from identity thieves.
