Clipper oil vs blade spray, finally figured out the difference in 3 months of testing

Used to just hit every clipper with blade spray after each cut. Thought it was the same thing as oil. Then a buddy in Spokane showed me his setup, he only oils the blades at the start of the day and uses spray as a quick refresh between clients. Tried that for about 3 months now and my blades are way cooler to the touch and I'm not going through spray so fast. The oil actually stays put better. Anyone else run a similar routine or do you still spray after every single head?
