Update: cut my first fade on a real client at the shop on 5th Street after 8 months of just watching
Been sweeping and folding towels at Moore's in Columbus since March, and the owner finally handed me the clippers for a walk in kid's fade Tuesday afternoon. Took me 35 minutes instead of the usual 15 and I nicked his ear once, but dad tipped me 5 bucks and said the blend was cleaner than the last guy's. Any tips on speeding up my guard work without rushing the blend line?
35 minutes on your first real fade is actually pretty normal, the speed comes with reps not with trying harder. As for the guard work, most guys think they gotta move faster but the trick is shorter strokes so you're not overlapping as much.
