Can we talk about how I thought those little bar end mirrors were stupid until I actually tried a pair?
I ride a Surly Cross Check about 9 miles each way to my delivery depot in Portland, and for two years I ran normal mirrors on the bars. Every time I saw someone with those tiny bar end mirrors I figured they were just for looks and couldn't show you anything behind you. Then a guy at the bike co-op on Alberta let me borrow his for a week while my regular mirror was on backorder. First ride I hated them because you have to look way down, but by day three I realized I was actually checking behind me more often because they don't shake at all on rough pavement. The normal mirror bounced so much on SE Division that cars looked like blobs, but these stay dead steady. Downsides are real though, you lose your bar end grips and they cost like $25 for a pair. Now I'm torn because they work but I still miss having my mirror up high where my eyes already are. Anyone run both at once or is that total overkill?
