Found out the hard way my anvil face was never flat
Picked up a 150 lb anvil at an estate sale outside Tulsa for $250 three years ago, figured a slight wobble was just the stand. Last week I finally took a straightedge to it and there's a dip in the middle about 1/8 of an inch, probably from some old smith hammering over the same spot for decades. Anyone else ever re-dressed an anvil face, and did you use a belt grinder or send it out to a machine shop?
