Quenched a blade in warm oil for 5 years, figured out my edge issues were heat, not steel

I kept getting micro-cracks on some knives and blamed the 1095. Turns out I was quenching at like 140 degrees because my garage in Tucson gets hot and I never checked the bucket temp. A guy at a demo in Phoenix pointed out my quench oil felt warm and asked if I ever let it cool to 90. Switched to letting the oil sit overnight before hardening and my failures dropped from about 1 in 4 to almost none. Anyone else run into weird problems that were actually just your shop environment messing with your process?
