DAE feel guilty when you fake reading a book for club?

I mean, last month I totally skimmed the assigned novel and still joined the chat. Idk, maybe it's just me but I think that's cheating the group and it makes the whole debate feel fake.

Skimming the book is lowkey cheating. But fr who hasn't done it? Just don't make it a habit.

Honestly calling it cheating feels like a stretch... it's not like copying answers or anything. Sometimes you just need to get through the material and a quick skim does the job. Not the best way to learn but we've all been in a pinch. Why do people gotta make everything so serious?

Skimming is basically showing up to a potluck with store bought cookies and pretending you baked them. You're not really bringing your part to the table. The whole point is to share ideas you got from actually reading it, not just guessing from a summary. It does make the chat fake because you're just echoing what others say or making stuff up.
