Am I the only one who moved my whole houseplant collection from a sunny windowsill to a cheap LED shelf last spring?

For 12 years I lined every pot along the south window in my Kansas City apartment, then my friend Dana gave me a $30 shop light and now my pothos is throwing leaves the size of dinner plates, so I am wondering if anyone else made the switch and how you handle the green algae that shows up in the clear pots.
