I finally tracked my weekly grocery bill for a month and hit $75
I set a goal to spend less than $80 a week for my family of three, and last week I got it down to $75. This was a big deal because we usually spend over $100. I did it by planning meals around dried beans, cheaper cuts of chicken, and in-season veggies. Do you think aiming for a strict weekly number is better, or is a monthly average more realistic for staying on budget?

Wait, you feed three people on seventy-five bucks a week? That's wild. A monthly average is way smarter so you can buy the big cheap stuff when you see it.

My old boss at the moving company swore by a monthly average. He said it lets you stock up on a great sale one week without blowing the whole plan.

Does your old boss have a side gig teaching budgeting classes, because I could use that wisdom. I tried the weekly budget thing once and ended up eating expired crackers for three days because I blew it all on a "deal" for bulk peanut butter. Monthly averaging sounds like the kind of adulting I keep pretending to do but actually fail at. I swear my pantry is just a collection of regrets and half-used bags of rice. So yeah, I'm definitely starting to lean toward that monthly method, even if my wallet looks like a confused mess by week three.
