Rice cooker changed my meal prep game
Used to think rice cookers were a waste. Just another gadget taking up space. My roommate bought one for $20 at a thrift store. I was skeptical. Then I tried cooking beans and lentils in it. No soaking, no babysitting a pot. I do a big batch every Sunday, add cheap veggies and seasoning, and have lunch for the week. Anyone else using a rice cooker for things besides rice?

People are acting like a rice cooker is some life changing discovery. It's a rice cooker. It cooks things at a set temperature for a set time. Beans and lentils don't need that much babysitting anyway, just a pot and checking on them once in a while. The whole "no soaking" thing is just skipping a step that takes five minutes of planning. It's not some magic trick, it's just a crock pot with a timer. I guess if it helps someone not burn their dinner then fine, but let's not pretend this is a new invention.

Oh, so now we're acting like a $20 thrift store gadget is the secret to meal prep enlightenment? It's beans and lentils, not a culinary breakthrough. I guess if you need a machine to tell you that soaking and simmering is optional, that's progress for you.
