Why does nobody talk about buying day-old bread from bakeries?
I was at a bakery in Akron last week grabbing my usual $4 loaf and the guy in front of me asked if they had any day-old bags. The cashier pulled out a big brown bag with three loaves and a few rolls for $1.50 total. I had no idea bakeries even did this, I've been throwing away stale bread for years. So I asked about it and apparently most shops just toss or donate the leftovers if nobody asks. I picked up my own bag on the way out and froze most of it, works great for toast and grilled cheese. Anyone else have a local spot that quietly sells off their day-old stuff like this?

Hold on, day-old bread is just a trap for people who want to eat cardboard.
