My flight to Lisbon got canceled and I ended up saving $200 on a better hotel.
I had to stay an extra night, so I booked a place 20 minutes outside the city center for half the price and found the local transit was amazing. Anyone have a go-to move for finding cheaper last-minute stays when plans fall apart?

Feeling for you on that neck kink thing, Skyler. I once slept on a bench at the airport in Brussels and my arm went totally numb. Took almost a day to get the feeling back. For last minute stuff, I've had good luck just walking up to smaller hotels or hostels that don't show up on the big booking sites. They'll sometimes give you a deal just to fill a room for the night.

Honestly my go-to move is just accepting I'll be sleeping in the airport lounge. Last time my connection got messed up I spent the night by the baggage claim, used my carry-on as a pillow. Woke up with a kink in my neck that lasted three days. Your way sounds way smarter.

Honestly sleeping in the airport is underrated. You said you got a neck kink, but that's just bad prep. I've done it a bunch. Just find a row of empty seats, use your actual jacket as a pillow, and set a phone alarm. You save all that cash and time you'd waste traveling to some far-off hotel. Waking up already at your gate for the new flight is a way better start than a long bus ride back.
