Saw a stat that the average bullet journal gets abandoned after 3 to 4 weeks, so is the system broken or are we just starting wrong?
I read this in a planning blog out of Portland from a woman who surveyed about 200 people in a bujo group. Most of them quit inside a month, and the top reason was not lazy people, it was that they copied some perfect layout from Instagram and then felt like a failure when they could not keep it up.
So here is my two sides. One side says the method is fine, people just overbuild it with 12 trackers and fancy headers and no wonder they quit. Keep it to a pen and one page a day and you will stick with it. The other side says the whole idea of a fresh spread and redoing your index is too much upkeep for a lot of folks, and a plain notebook or a planner app would serve them better without the guilt.
I lean toward the second on hard weeks and the first on easy ones, which is probably not helpful. What got you past week 5 if you made it that far, or what made you close the book for good?
