PSA: I thought those 'article disappeared overnight' claims were fake, then a site in Belarus vanished while I had it open in a tab
I used to think people who said whole news pages got scrubbed were exaggerating, because usually the link just moves and you find it again. Last Tuesday I was reading a small outlet in Minsk about a protest crackdown, left the tab open for maybe 40 minutes, came back and got a 404 with no redirect. I started using the Wayback Machine and archive.today on anything I want to keep, and both had the page saved even though it only lived for a few hours. The part that bugs me is I only checked because a guy in a Discord server mentioned Belarus blocks stuff fast, and he was right. Does anyone here have a system for grabbing a page before it gets pulled, or do you just save everything you read?
