Radio Free Europe vs. local news app, which one actually gets through

I was comparing how I follow news from my home country, which has heavy state control. Radio Free Europe's site kept getting blocked, so I tried a messaging app that delivers headlines in short clips. That app worked way better, maybe because it uses peer to peer sharing instead of a single server. The local news app I used before only showed government approved stories, so the difference was night and day. Has anyone else found a reliable workaround for blocked news feeds?
