The Spanish censor who made me rewrite my region report
I was covering a local protest in Galicia back in April when a government contact pulled me aside. He said my article had too many direct quotes from the organizers, and that I needed to frame it as a 'public order event' instead. I pushed back at first, but he warned that the outlet could get a fine of 3,000 euros if it ran as written. I ended up changing the headline and removing two specific names, which gutted the story's point. Has anyone else gotten this kind of veiled pressure from officials while reporting abroad?
