Warning: my neighbor in Queens told me Russia blocked a story about radioactive waste dumping

I was talking to Dmitri, this older guy who lives two floors down, and he showed me a report from Greenpeace about radioactive waste from a processing plant being dumped near the Arctic coast in 2023. He said the Russian government blocked all coverage within 3 hours of it going up. That hit different because I never think about what news I'm not seeing from places like that. Has anyone else heard from people inside countries about stuff that got hidden?

That's heavy man... Dmitri sounds like he's trying to keep people informed. My cousin married a woman from Uzbekistan and she told me about how during the pandemic, reports of hospital shortages in smaller cities just disappeared from local news sites. Like they were never there. It really makes you wonder what else gets buried...
