Why does nobody talk about the 3-day news blackout in my small town last month?

Last month my county in western Kansas lost internet and cell service for almost 72 hours, and nobody outside a 20 mile radius reported it. The local paper mentioned it on page 4, but the national outlets had zero coverage, even though it hit during harvest season when folks rely on weather radar. Turns out the provider was doing a 'network upgrade' but they blocked all emergency alerts too, so a grain elevator fire two towns over went unnoticed. I only found out because my cousin in Denver called my landline, which still worked, and asked why we went dark. The FCC has rules about reporting outages over 24 hours, but this somehow slid under the radar. Has anyone else caught their region just vanish from the news map like that, or is my county just cursed? lol.
