My new grinder jammed on the third batch, belt snapped at 6 AM

Bought a 3/4 HP grinder two weeks ago, figured it would handle a busy Saturday. Third batch of pork shoulder at 6 AM and the belt tore clean off. Had to finish 40 pounds with my backup hand crank, took forever. The supplier said it was my fault for pushing it too hard, but I've done bigger runs on smaller machines. Anyone else have a new machine fail right out of the crate? What did you replace it with?
