Modern connectors make old methods seem pointless to me.

What about the people who don't use modern connectors? I see folks on the trail all the time with old, worn-out gear they've had for years. The tech is good, but it doesn't matter if someone's using a cheap, rusty carabiner from a garage sale. The weakest link is often the human choice, not the gear itself.
