Disagreeing with the "replace the sensor" crowd on old digitals
Everyone in my local shop keeps saying any dead pixel means the sensor is toast, but a repair guy in Boise showed me last month that 9 times out of 10 it's just a loose ribbon cable and a $12 part. I started reflowing the connector before quoting a full sensor swap and I've saved customers about $400 a pop on three cameras since. Has anyone else been fixing these the cheap way instead of scrapping the whole board?
