Fixed a stuck aperture on a $15 Nikon FG and the before/after on my test roll shocked me
Picked up a beat up Nikon FG at a flea market in Toledo two months ago for $15, and every shot came back at f16 no matter what I set. Turned out the aperture lever was gummed up with old lube, so I spent about 40 minutes with lighter fluid and a q tip working it loose. Same lens, same roll of Fuji 400, same front porch light, and the before frames were muddy and dark while the after ones were bright and sharp. I shot a side by side comparison and it still surprises me how much a tiny mechanical fix changes the output. Has anyone else run into a sticky aperture blade that looked fine until you developed the film?
